Why do I need a wedge?

The nurtureOne nesting cushion was originally used in Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICUs), where incubators are angled at about 30 degrees for medical benefits. For full-term, healthy babies who are not in incubators, the nurtureOne wedge was designed to be used with the nurtureOne nesting cushion to create this slight elevation.  Using the wedge together with the nurtureOne cushion ensures your baby’s head is at the correct angle, preventing it from being lower than the rest of the body.
